Fundraising Manager – HNWI

Better Shelter is seeking a Fundraising Manager – HNWI to develop and execute our fundraising strategy for high-net-worth donors, strengthening our ability to deliver innovative shelter solutions to displaced communities.
This role is a critical part of our Fundraising Team, focusing on identifying, cultivating, and stewarding (U)HNWI donors who align with our mission. The successful candidate will build personalised engagement strategies, craft compelling cases for support, and drive philanthropic partnerships that generate major gifts and long-term commitments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management
- Identify, research, and establish strong relationships with (U)HNWIs, family offices, and philanthropic networks with the potential to support Better Shelter.
- Develop tailored engagement and stewardship plans to deepen donor relationships and secure significant financial commitments.
- Act as the primary contact for a portfolio of high-value donors, ensuring an exceptional donor experience.
2. Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to expand Better Shelter’s network of (U)HNWI supporters globally. Analyse prioritised market data to identify partners and screen wealthy individuals willing to invest in the work of Better Shelter.
- Lead donor solicitation efforts, including personalized proposals, impact reports, and high-level pitches.
- Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships to set and achieve ambitious revenue targets from (U)HNWIs.
- Identify opportunities for naming rights, bespoke projects, and customized donor engagement programs.
3. Events & Networking
- Organize and participate in high-profile fundraising events, exclusive donor gatherings, and networking opportunities to enhance donor engagement.
- Represent Better Shelter at conferences, private donor meetings, and philanthropic forums.
- Leverage board members, ambassadors, and influential supporters to facilitate introductions to prospective donors.
4. Cross-Team Collaboration & Impact Reporting
- Work closely with the colleagues in the Fundraising Team, but also with Communications Team to craft compelling narratives and donor-focused materials that highlight Better Shelter’s impact.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather data and success stories for donor reports.
- Ensure timely reporting and stewardship, demonstrating the impact of donor contributions.
Who You Are (Experiences & Skills)
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Fundraising, International Relations, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven track record of securing significant gifts from (U)HNWIs, preferably in the humanitarian, international development, or non-profit sector.
- Experience in event planning and high-level donor engagement activities.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages (such as French, Arabic, or a Nordic language) are a plus.
